The loadImage() function. This is the function that gets the data from the image and makes it available inside of your sketch. The function doesnft draw anything to the screen: it returns the image data in a special kind of Javascript value called an object. This statement:.......

That is: why not just call the loadImage() function when wefre declaring the variable? This would be tidy and neat, but unfortunately it wonft work. Thatfs because some functions (including most of the load...() functions I discuss in this tutorial) can only be called from inside preload(). The reasons for this are tied to the specific ways that p5.js is implemented and arenft necessarily worth going into, but itfs a good thing to remember........

TITLE : Media · Creative Coding
Well, okay. Technically you can call loadImage() in other contexts, and often youfll see people call it inside of setup() as a kind of shorthand. But one thing you donft want to do is call loadImage() in draw(). Herefs a simple sketch to illustrate why:.......

TITLE : Media · Creative Coding
kitty = loadImage("kitty.jpg");.......
http://creative-coding.decontextualize.com/media/
TITLE : Media · Creative Coding
The thing to remember is that if you call loadImage() anywhere other than inside of preload(), p5.js will to run your sketch even before the image is loaded. This means that certain attributes of the image (like its width or height or pixel data) might not be available in your program until after the draw() function has already been called a few times. For this reason, itfs always safer to use preload()........

You can get an imagefs width and height by accessing its width and height attributes. An objectfs attributes are special values belonging to that object that are accessed by putting a dot (.) after the objectfs variable name, and the name of the attribute after the dot. Assuming youfd already used loadImage() to load an image object into a variable called img, you would access that imagefs width and height like so:.......

TITLE : Guide to Images in Cinder
Even though that code simply loads and draws an image, there's actually quite a lot going on behind the scenes. The first line creates a new OpenGL texture from the result of loadImage(). This function is used for loading the various image formats Cinder knows about, and can be used to read from files, URLs, resources and other sources, as we'll see later. And the second line actually draws the gl::Texture to your window using OpenGL........

Processing uses a synchronous I/O model, which means that functions like loadImage() take time to execute, and while they are running, nothing else happens: the program waits until loadImage() is done before moving on to the next statement. TITLE : Tutorial: Menus and Icons
I've used LoadIcon() to load the large icon because it's simpler, however it will only load icons at the default resolution of 32x32, so in order to load the smaller image, we need to use LoadImage(). Be aware that icon files and resources can contain multiple images, and in this case the ones I've supplied contain the two sizes that I'm loading........
