TITLE : c++ - How to draw text using only OpenGL methods? - Stack Overflow
I dont have options to use other than opengl methods (that is glxxx() methods()). I need to draw text using gl methods only. After reading the red book i understand that it is possible only through glBitmap() method. If this is the only possible way, then can any one help me with the pixel array information for all the characters. Is there is any other way to draw text?.......

TITLE : Chapter 9. Drawing Pixels, Bitmaps, Fonts, and Images
The glBitmap() command and the display-list mechanism described in the previous section make it easy to define a raster font. In Example€¶-2, the upper-case characters of an ASCII font are defined. In this example, each character has the same width, but this is not always the case. Once the characters are defined, the program prints the message gTHE QUICK BROWN FOX JUMPS OVER A LAZY DOGh........

I found that glBitmap() only supports 8-bit bitmaps which are greyscale. To display 16 or 24 bit bitmaps we need to use glDrawPixels(). The only problem is that I still don't know how to use it =(........
